The existing building of St. Mary’s Hospital, located in Sechelt in BC’s Sunshine Coast, was initially built in 1964 and a number of additions have been added over the years. The building was updated with a digital control system in 2005.
CES was hired to conduct an energy study of the building to address to improve energy performance. A preliminary investigation of the building has been conducted and a number of low cost energy conservation measures were identified. Due to the age of the building equipment and systems, by far the greatest savings would come from a complete hot water and chilled water plant retrofit, replacing old boilers and chillers and converting the distribution loops to variable flow systems.
