BC Cancer Research Facility is the 21,000 sq.m. state-of-the-art research facility comprised of modular laboratory space and support infrastructure including a vivarium and specialized core laboratories. This centre houses two containment level 3 laboratories utilized for research with special and viral vector risk 3 pathogens.
CES Engineering was hired by Stantec project management on behalf of BC Cancer Research Facility to act as the laboratory certification consultant. Our scope of work included:
Management of the design process for the CL 3 laboratories by performing the following services:
Laboratory and service equipment shop drawing review.
CL3 operation protocol review with User Group and Biosafety Officer.
Chairing regular commissioning meetings during commissioning and certification project phase.
Construction review and site inspection of the CL3 laboratory.
Pressure decay testing for CL3 lab ductwork and HEPA filters housing assemblies with the Sheet Metal Contractor.
Containment barrier leak testing (room testing).
Commissioning of all building systems associated with CL3 laboratories.
Manage, coordinate and participate in the certification process.
Preparation of user manuals for CL3 laboratories.
Preparation, assembly and submission of the final certification report in line with the Federal Biosafety Standards.
Demonstration and validation of laboratory systems operation and fail safe containment integrity in front of federal biosafety officials.
