Synergy

C.E.S. core services (total building commissioning, performance measurement & verification, energy simulation, analysis and accounting) provide a holistic approach to the building systems commissioning process.

Total Building Commissioning (TBC)

We practice commissioning for all building systems including building envelope, door hardware, vertical and horizontal transportation, HVAC, plumbing and fire protection, electrical distribution, lighting systems, communication and technology systems. Utilizing total building commissioning process we support and validate the integration of all building systems and help improve building sustainability, workforce productivity, occupant safety, and security.

Design Expertise and "Hands on" Commissioning Skills

C.E.S. provides proficient engineering consulting and hands-on commissioning services. We utilize the most modern equipment and tools for testing and verification of building systems.

Retrofit Design

Our personnel experience includes over hundred of retrofit projects, ranging from simple tenant improvements to complex multi-million dollar projects. We provide full range of mechanical and electrical engineering services (reports, feasibility studies, design), building permits and tendering services, preparation of construction documents, project management services, review of the construction progress and quality assurance, advise on payments, project costs control and budgets estimates, advise on various aspects of construction contracts, expertise in managing and administrating incentive applications.

Performance Measurement and Verification

We are the sole company in the local market that provides complete measurement and verification services. Our M&V practices include energy modelling and design studies, peer design reviews, energy metering equipment and components selection and development of M&V plans during project design phase. We have developed a proprietary Energy Management Information System, executed through EcoOpera Systems Inc, for continuously acquiring energy and utilities central and sub-metering data via DDC or other metering systems. The collected data is then uploaded to a dedicated database server. Another customized energy software application provides reports and summaries of energy consumptions, operation status and systems efficiencies from the specific building energy databases.

We are specialists in providing M&V services in line with:

  • Option B (Retrofit Isolation) from the 2002 International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP) Volume I, concept and options for determining energy and water savings

  • Option C (Whole Building) from the 2002 International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP) Volume I, concept and options for determining energy and water savings

  • Option D from the 2006 International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP) Volume III, concept and options for determining energy savings in new construction and with LEED EA Credit 5, Measurement and Verification requirements.

Energy Analysis and Simulations

We utilize the latest tools and techniques for determining the most appropriate energy conservation measures. We are proficient with modelling programs IES, eQuest, EE4, EnergyPlus, and HAP. C.E.S. specializes in the mathematical techniques necessary for creating accurate baselines of building energy use and equipment performance, including thermal efficiencies of boilers, heat pumps and chillers. Our experience with energy modeling, energy monitoring, and measurement and verification has led to the development of an effective process for the calibration of energy models to real building data.  This process uncovers issues causing excessive energy use that cannot be identified through examining basic DDC trend logs.
